(no subject)

It's snowing. It's APRIL 18TH, in Vancouver, and it's SNOWING! What the FUG is UP with this SNOW?! @___x; There was a bit of hail, even, when I was walking home from work. From here, down to Tacoma, and Everett, and Seattle, possibly?... there's snow. A LOT of it (for us, that is), even, in some areas! For us, this is CRAZY WEATHER! It's supposed to be getting warmer by now. Mother Nature... what's going on!? D:

Oh, tell me about it. I had my motorcycle exams schedualed today at the DMV, and I spent a grand total of six hours there getting through my tests thanks to snow squalls and general chaos there delaying things. High speed manuevers and sudden breaking in SHEETING ICE at points!!

Fricking graduated ICBC licensing system, have to jump through all the exams all at once again to renew my license... serious pain. And this happens on the only freaking day I can renew my license all at once (and when they'll allow me to. Bloody only can renew license two weeks before expiry, and tests only start the week before my license expires, GRAH!) so I can get to and from work.

Weather = EPIC FAIL! *gnashes teeth*

*WINCES* OW. Not fun. Not at all... X( That sounds like an "epic fail" all around! Did you pass your tests?

[identity profile] raikomotomiya.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. I was one of two who did. The rest of the people couldn't handle the conditions which included being soaked to the bone. They were newbies, I have about two years experience annnnd, I'm a bit more used to erm... how bikes react in the elements and how to deal with skids, hydroplaning, and back tires spinning out. And I had better gear.

(my little orange bike did not like it one bit. you've seen it, the little Yamaha with the Autobot decal. It had trouble starting. Hell, all of the bikes did... it was in the negatives out there. Made me long for expensive electrically heated gear, despite wearing my thermals.)

... and then I had to ride home in it. Bleh. [/rant]

Well, congrats for passing the test! ^_^

But yick on the whole experience in general. x.x; Down to the negatives? *shudders*

[identity profile] raikomotomiya.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
With windchill? Yeah. It actually hit -2 for an hour down there without windchill, but the wind generally made it feel like it was -5 when it was really 2.

But it's okay. I had a nice long hot shower and a cup of coffee spiked with brandy to warm me right up when I got home.

Well, considering out of the three cities, Tacoma's the furthest south... Yeah. Direct report from Tacoma! Snowed on me when I went to get dinner. And I had unthinkingly put on flipflops. Not Fun.

[identity profile] uftaki.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*winces* Snow + flipflops = brrrOW! D: *offers yummy warm foods + drinks*

[identity profile] flybystardancer.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It had just been windy when I had last gone outside for classes, and I could see some blue in the sky through the cracks in the blinds. So I figured, "Hey, the weather's not gonna be too bad," and threw some flip flops on. I get outside and the snow's coming down.

...At least I'm in one of the closer dorms to the SUB.

Yay! Thanks! *accepts and offers hugs back*

I was going to make a similar post, but you beat me to it. :) Yeah, usually the last frost or sprinkling of snow stops in the first week of March. The weather network says the last time it snowed at this time of year was in 1955.

[identity profile] uftaki.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
.... 1955?! XD Hooo.... how many things happened in 1955? (It's almost as if it were the temperal judgement point of the entire space-time continuum!)[/geek]

But yeah... having snow this late in the season is really odd. Not surprising the record is set so far back.

[identity profile] uneide.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
same here! What is UP with the weather?? O_o

Also, you did get my phone message, yes? Didnt' want you to worry. ^_^v

[identity profile] uftaki.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I did... o.o Unless you sent it this morning. ^_^; *is at work*

(I got the one on April 4th, btw -- so cute! xD)

[identity profile] queenofhearts.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! Snow here too! It's crappy, because we had two 80 degree days a week back and it was a terrible tease.

[identity profile] rill.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
heh I was driving down to Seattle in the snow. That sucked >.<

Heya just FYI I'm going to be doing an Enchanted eye order so if you wanted to save on shipping drop me a line. Haven't seen you in ages so it'd be awesome to hang out again at some point

[identity profile] uftaki.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch, I can imagine. X(

Oooh, that sounds interesting. What are "Enchanted" eyes? I might be interested in that. Do they have a website I can look at?

I don't know if I can get to Apis' next doll show, but I'll see if I can get the time off. I have a new little girl, now! :) A LaTi Renia, who I've named Jessica. :3
