Just found out some really cool news. Discotek Media is going to be releasing a certain series, some time this summer(?). :D

ETA: Unrelated.... but dear GODS, this looks totally awesome! *__*

Prompt Me

Dare I try this...? Might as well. No guarantees, though. ^_^;

*coughs and clears throat* Okay. I'm going to ATTEMPT to throw myself out here, and open myself up for short (hopefully) fic prompts. I want to see if I CAN EVER get myself back into the writing scene, plus I want to see if I possibly have a handle on a couple voices for characters, for RP purposes.

So... throw out a character, and a prompt of some sort (word, theme, setting, line, etc), and I'll see if I can't whip up a short little drabble/ficlet/paragraph on it. I'm open for pretty much anything: gen, het, yaoi/yuri, comedy/drama/action/romance/fluff/angst... just no extreme kinks, please.

fandoms I'll write for, plus notes, beneath the cut )

Again, word-of-warning, I am VERY rusty at this. It's been literally years since I've actually WRITTEN anything fanfic-wise. Please be patient with me. ^__^;; *bows*

I've been trying to decide on which character to cosplay from One Piece, for next year's Sakura Con (and other conventions, if I attend them). I've been batting ideas back and forth, but haven't really finalized on anything.

Then I did a few sketches of a human Thousand Sunny, and Going Merry, and I think the former is a definite possibility (I'm not slight enough to pull off Merry respectfully. Even Sunny'll be a bit of a stretch. c.c; *cough* But anyway...)

Looking for thoughts and opinions on the designs of these! Are they recognizable as the ships they're supposed to represent?

cut for images! )

Grabbed this from [livejournal.com profile] katsuyakaiba

This. Is. Awesome!

Full-size model Gundam! *___* It looks gorgeous!

Some shots here, of it at dusk/night, with all the lights on...

Some more night shots here.

... and looking at the different shots... IT MOVES?!?1!eleventy!!?! (it's head moves, at least!)

ETA: notes/comments from one of the sites... This was built for the 30th anniversary of the Gundam franchise. It's located in Odaiba (a man made island). Sadly, it'll be taken down some time in August. ;__; It'd be cool if they could reloate it somewhere permaent... ^_^;

Wound up... couldn't sleep... decided to open up my copy of Newtype magazine, April 2004 ((old, old... yes, I know I am so far behind in the "current" anime stuff it's not even funny. Ah well. Got the magazine from working at Sakura Con; never got around to opening it)) and flip through a few things...

Stumbled upon this small article. Area 88: new animated TV series. Looks like a nice style, looking at the screencaps. VAs: Shin Kazama: Takehito Koyasu. Makoto Shinjo (original for this series): Shinichiro Miki. Mickey: Tomokazu Seki. Satoru Kanzaki: Hikaru Midorikawa.

ZOMG Fushigi Yuugi/Weiss Kreus seiyuu party all over again. And Area 88 on top of that! Fangirl/geek-gasm! *___* I never got to see how the manga ended; translation/produciton of the comics stopped a long time ago (as far as I'm aware. I think some were released, after the individual issues comics stopped, but.. only in magazine volumes or something that I didn't want to buy)... so I have no idea how the series ended.

I've got to start poking about, seeing if I can find fansubs or something anywhere to watch. XD

Oh... and
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!! :D :D :D

In other words... Gratuitous Icon Post! With icons made by yours truly. X3

Only TEN, this time around... as these are really from the only images I've either found on the Net (in the case with the DWD icon), or taken screencaps from an .avi file. I don't have a DVD rom, so I can't take screencaps from my DVDs -- only the few episodes I've downloaded... c_c;; *coughcough* (and given the FOCUS of these icons... it'll become obvious which episodes I HAD with me when I decided to start taking screencaps... *lol*)

ANYWAY! Nine Ducktales icons... One Darkwing Duck icon, for your viewing pleasure. These are free for use... but PLEASE credit me if you use them, thanks. (and yes, I know the Scrooge icon has some transparancy problems around the edges and stuff... I can't be buggered to fix it :P)

preview:

The rest are under here... cut for loading times and one bad word. GASPSHOCK!! Yes... Inappropriate language in a Disney icon! @-@ )

Picked up the box sets of vol. 1 of both Darkwing Duck AND Tale Spin, today! (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] straya for telling me you heard Tale Spin was coming out as well, otherwise I wouldn't have known to look for it!) And YAY! BOTH have the pilot episodes included! *cheers* I don't know why Ducktales and Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers didn't have their pilots included; here's hoping they'll be released later.

Passing on a link to a very amusing webcomic/doujinshi. It's mainly Powerpuff Girls based, with a HEAVY does of Dexter's Lab, too... from what I've read so far. But it's throwing practically every Cartoon Network show in here, somehow. Invader Zim, Samurai Jack, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Fairly Oddparents... it's like a cross-over gone insane. XD It's also done in a very stylized, anime-ish style -- characters are more 'bishonen/bishojo' than their original designs. It works quite well, actually; it looks VERY polished! It has a more serious/darker cast to the overall story, but it definately has it's humorous parts, too.

Power Puff Girls Doujinshi

Worth a glance, at least. ^^;

edit:

And just yanked this off [livejournal.com profile] theladyphoenix's journal... A new video from a group called "OK Go"... 4 guys dancing on 8 treadmills.... it's hilarious. XD AND impressive! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5zWaTEVkI

I tell you... it's great being a girl geek; you can be interested in both "girly" stuff AND "guys" stuff and people don't look at you oddly. XD (at least, most don't! ^^;) *lol* Anyway...

Some collected DVD releases for those interested... :3
Darkwing Duck vol.1 coming to DVD on August 29th! Whoot! :D

And related to that, The Gummi Bears are also getting a release to DVD on Nov. 14th! :D

And unrelated to that, this comic just makes me giggle something mad. XD *lol* (main site: here)
