Found (or rather, checked to see if the store was still there) a GREAT arts & crafts store down in Kitsilano! :3 Now that Lewiscraft was bought out, there are no arts & crafts stores as much any more. There are art stores, yes... but it's hard to find good craft stores. Kits is waaaaay out of my way, but they had a huge selection of crafts stuff, there. X3

Found something I'm experimenting with for one of my costumes... going to see how it turns out, using it. Hopefully it'll work well. ^__^

I also found where the Michaels is in Coquitlam... Even though I think it might be closer, technically, I don't know how to get out there by transit. c.c I also don't really know what sort of stuff Michaels has in stock. Ah well. Maybe one day I'll check it out, too... but I'm happy this cool craft store is still running in Kits. X3

While my Mom and I were in Kits, we also stopped in a Greek bakery to pick up some pita bread, and a few other treats, as well. Yum. X9

My mom is manager of a Michaels. What are you looking for? I could ask her.

I have NO idea. I like to browse. ^^ Pick up stuff myself. Thanks for the offer, though. :)

The Michael's in Port Coquitlam, the one you mentioned, is the one I go to often. That chain is a great place just to browse to get ideas. There's a warehouse-sized Michael's just over the Pitt River Bridge in Maple Ridge. You can get to the Port Coquitlam Michael's if you get off Skytrain at Lougheed Mall and take the 99 B-line bus to the Coquitlam Centre bus loop. You can get a community shuttle from there to Westwood Street, but they take the milk run around the area first and it would probably be faster to walk a couple of blocks east.

They're building a Michael's just across the Queensboro Bridge in Richmond. I checked Michael's website and it's not listed there yet, so I guess it hasn't opened. If you happen to be in South Burnaby that new one would be closer but I don't know how you'd get there without a car.

Hm. The 99 B-Line? That's convenient, then. Probably a long ride, but... the two probably would end up the same amount of time, maybe. xD And a warehouse sized one? o.o; Wow. Where in Maple Ridge is this? I'm not really familiar with either city. ^_^;

... The Queensboro bridge would be SO convenient. *_* I'm certain a bus from the 22nd Skytrain station would take me there. The Richmond bus from there goes over the Queensboro bridge, so... Will the Michaels be near the Walmart there, then?

I think it is in the same plaza as Wal-Mart because it's in the same area as the other big-box stores going in. I've seen it from the bridge on the west side. There's also a plaza of big-box stores going in on the north side of the river, accessible off Marine Drive, but that plaza is going to have stores like Canadian Tire in it.

Between taking Skytrain and the B-line bus it's pretty quick. If I take Skytrain from Edmonds I can get to Coquitlam Centre in about 40 minutes, which is about as quick as driving. Also, the B-line comes by every 10 minutes during the day.

The Michael's in Maple Ridge doesn't seem to be listed on Michael's website but I know it's there in the same big-box store plaza as Maple Ridge SilverCity because I've been there. That's where I bought some of my photo background materials (they've got a really big selection of everything) and I got a little stuffed bunny and teddy bear in the doll section for Masterpiece Starscream. (I took him to Victoria and got pictures of him with his teddy bear last January :P). It's right on the Lougheed Highway, the main drag through Maple Ridge. You can't miss seeing Michael's from Lougheed Highway and there's likely a bus stop at the plaza. There is a #700 Maple Ridge/Haney bus that goes that way from the Coquitlam Centre bus loop, but last time I looked it up years ago it ran about once an hour. With all the population growth the service likely has improved. Driving out that way is probably about 20 minutes east of Coquitlam Centre, maybe less. Just don't go out that way near rush hour!

Wow, I'm starting to really sound like Bluestreak, going on and on like this... I hope this is good information for you. :)

Ah, cool. ^_^

The Edmonds... O.o Was that just a wild guess, or have I actually SAID I'm around there, and just forgot that I did? ^^;

Ah. I've seen the SilverCity there, passing by it... but I guess I just missed the Michaels. I've never actually been in there, so... heh. And believe me, Mom and I know NOT to tackle that whole area during rush hour, now. xD

Oh... this is incredibly helpful information -- thank you!! :D

I mentioned Edmonds because I work very close to there.

Actually, I thought I recognized the background in one of your recent photos of the doll you made. Your doll looked really nice, by the way.

Oh really? Wow... awesome coincidence. XD Yes, I live near the Edmonds Skytrain. ^^; The 'background' is actually the courtyard of the condo I live in. Heh. And thank you. :3
