zomg... o.o; Just got this off [livejournal.com profile] ice_kitten's journal. The wind ripped off a panel of the roof at B.C. Place! O.o; (the rest of the roof was later purposefully collapsed by workers)

News article HERE...

.... poor B.C. Place. :( I know it's just a building... but it was a landmark! I hope the damage can be repaired, and the roof put back in place. We're one of the few places that HAS that type of a roof -- it made us special. ^^;

edit: Apparantly, they will be repairing it. It was slated to be fixed anyway... this kind of... jumped the gun, I guess. ^.^;

Just glad no one was hurt by that. o.o More photos, and where I got the news link from, HERE... though I don't get why some people are cheering at this. :/ Then again, perhaps because no one was hurt by that, we can laugh at it (as in the "Cave-on-Foods" joke, referenced here. heh ^.^;) And they are saying it's less "literally awesome" and more like "whoa, stuff's happening!" *shrug* I can understand that. And I'll stop rambling now. @_x;

I'm glad there was no one inside the stadium at the time. Can you imagine being on Skytrain today and seeing it deflated? I was listening to News 1130AM on the way home and they said it could be repaired and back up in a few days.

With all the sudden melting of snow today, I simply can't believe the amount of water on the roads. On my way home I hit a section of road at the top of a hill in Port Moody that was flooded so deeply that cars were up to their headlights in water as they practically swam through it. Me, I just turned around and went a different way.

That's good to hear. ^.^ I can imagine it'd be quite a sight. o.o; Usually, I can see the Stadium from work. Just with all the rain and everything, I stayed snug in my office... and I don't think visibility was all that great anyway. @_x;

And yikes! O_o; Swimming cars = not good. @_x; I got soaked on the walk up to the Skytrain on my way home.

(Just borrowing Frosty's journal, cause I'm lasy like that)

Ugh... geez, now that really sucks. I have very fond memories of that place (Go, Lions, go!) and it's distressing to here of that kind of damage happening to it.

I tell you, this has been the season of wild weather. I have never seen it like this. Ten major winter storms so far and more to come? Ugh, ugh, ugh... x.x

I know... So while it's sad to hear of the damage, at least it'll be repaired. ^^;

And no kidding. @_x; 2006 was a record year for crazy weather! (in all seasons). And more are still coming? Ack!
