zomg... o.o; Just got this off
ice_kitten's journal. The wind ripped off a panel of the roof at B.C. Place! O.o; (the rest of the roof was later purposefully collapsed by workers)
News article HERE...
.... poor B.C. Place. :( I know it's just a building... but it was a landmark! I hope the damage can be repaired, and the roof put back in place. We're one of the few places that HAS that type of a roof -- it made us special. ^^;
edit: Apparantly, they will be repairing it. It was slated to be fixed anyway... this kind of... jumped the gun, I guess. ^.^;
Just glad no one was hurt by that. o.o More photos, and where I got the news link from, HERE... though I don't get why some people are cheering at this. :/ Then again, perhaps because no one was hurt by that, we can laugh at it (as in the "Cave-on-Foods" joke, referenced here. heh ^.^;) And they are saying it's less "literally awesome" and more like "whoa, stuff's happening!" *shrug* I can understand that. And I'll stop rambling now. @_x;

Date: 2007-01-06 01:34 am (UTC)With all the sudden melting of snow today, I simply can't believe the amount of water on the roads. On my way home I hit a section of road at the top of a hill in Port Moody that was flooded so deeply that cars were up to their headlights in water as they practically swam through it. Me, I just turned around and went a different way.

Date: 2007-01-06 01:46 am (UTC)Ugh... geez, now that really sucks. I have very fond memories of that place (Go, Lions, go!) and it's distressing to here of that kind of damage happening to it.
I tell you, this has been the season of wild weather. I have never seen it like this. Ten major winter storms so far and more to come? Ugh, ugh, ugh... x.x
