Only OC of yours I can recall is Kaleidoscope, so there she is.

Origin of name: Kaleidoscope was created roughly 10 years ago, now. ^^; She was part of a sub-group, all with that 'mood camo paint', classified "chameleon". I delved into the thesaurus to find various words related to "change" and similar words, and thought Kaleidoscope seemed to fit the sketch I had of this one femme.

Random facts on creation: Kali started as a sketch. I was watching a program on ballroom dancing, and I enojoyed watching the flow of the dance, as well as the pretty dresses. ^^; So I wondered what it would be like to have a TF dancer, and did a quick sketch of one. I later decided that she would be of a high-class background, due to the dominant blue-and-white colour scheme I gave her (mechs that either are, or appear to be, of more 'high class backgrounds' [eg: Mirage, Tracks, Highbrow] all seem to be dominantly blue (and white) in their coloration).

Random facts on backstory: I remembered the one shot we saw, in Roddy's Matrix-Vision during Five Faces of Darkness, of some Cybertronian dancers. I decided that Kaleidoscope would have been a part of a dance-troupe like that, before the start of the war. She's from a high-class background; used to being among those of manners and refinement. When the war started, she went into hiding for a long time, when it became clear that being a neutral was no longer possible. As she finds fighting, especially the long-range, bombing, guns-and-all fighting brutish, she opted to enter into areas that wouldn't take her anywhere near the front lines if she could help it. Her upbringing in the Grand Acadamy was a rather secluded life, and that, coupled with her preconcieved notions of the 'commoners' and her inherint shyness, made her rather a loner, keeping to her quarters most of the time on Cybertron.

Forestory: I don't really have much of an idea on where her story will take her. She's definately been an evolving character for me. Being on Earth, the "front line" so to speak, and unable to 'hide' any more, really, with the Ark crew, has really helped to bring her out of her shell. She'll start training with First Aid, Wheeljack and the others, to be a medical assistant -- she'll never become particularly skilled in that, but she does like being helpful.

Various answers for #7: Her 'secret' love isn't very secret at all *lol* (for those that don't know, it's Tracks). For myself, I feel it's a constant challenge to me, to keep her from being accused of being a Mary Sue. When she's 'asleep'/knocked out, she looses control of her pigmentation, and her entire body, save her optics, defaults to base grey metal.

Spanner. =D

Date: 2006-11-23 08:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] uftaki.livejournal.com
origin of name: I know Spanner's been used offically, before, in the TF comics... ^^; But hey, they've re-used names before. ;p I wanted something related to building and construction, something simple, and rather gender-neutral. I started calling her that, randomly, and the name just stuck. ^.^;

facts on creation: I wanted a character that played on the notion that gender, to Transformers, is very much a mental thing, and not physical. (though, granted, even Cyberton-only TFs still seem to be heavily influenced, from somewhere, on having gender identifications) Spanner originally was to be a gender-neutral character; a rather feminine robot mode, but a definate "masculine" vehicle mode. Spanner wouldn't refer to 'him/her-self' in either the masculine or the feminine, and would instead actually get quite confused about such topics, at the start. For a while, I didn't know if I wanted to keep Spanner as a gender-neuter, or choose a gender that s/he'd eventually fall into. I didn't just want a "tomboy" character, or a tough femme, or anything like that. Spanner eventually 'became' female, but I wanted a character who willingly chose to be a "female" -- who otherwise wouldn't be bound by/to/focus on gender signifiers/tradtions.

backstory: Spanner may (or may not) have been created on Cybertron, but EARLY on was taken off-planet, and developed on a planet that had no gendered creatures. Thus, there were no female/male social norms for him/her and the others to base their developments on. Spanner just did whatever s/he wanted to and felt like doing, not limited that his/her actions were "feminine" or "masculine". Spanner grew up a little 'rough around the edges', dealing with some other hard-headed members of his/her group, in the construction field... but was kind to his/her friends, and enjoyed the occassional quiet moments away from the construction sites.

forestory: To be honest, I really have no idea where Spanner is going. ^^; When s/he comes to Earth - or even Cybertron - naturally there is going to be a LOT of confusion. ^^; Organics - and humans specifically - will BAFFLE her. She'll struggle to understand gender-stereotying, as s/he won't fit the mold in a couple of ways. It will be frustrating, at times, no doubt, until s/he understands the concepts of 'gender', and the others understand that Spanner doesn't care one way or the other for sterotypes, and to just take her as "s/he" is.

random answers to #7: As Spanner has no clue on gender, she'll make strong, fast friends with mech and femme alike. And if the friendship ever has the possibility of growing deeper, sees absolutely no problem with flirting/courting mech and/or femme alike. "A love is just a very strong friendship", and all that.

1) Which Autobots does you feel the most comfortable around?
2) Ninjas or pirates. Which is better?
3) What does the number 42 mean to you?
4) You have a roulette wheel, a sledgehammer and Simon Furman. What are your plans for the weekend?
5) What is your super power?
6) Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
7) In Season Two, Decepticons kept tricking Autobots into helping them. What Decepticon would YOU end up helping, and how would they trick you into doing so?
