Well... didn't go to Stanley Park... though that was just a passing thought, anyway. ^^; Still would like to go at some point, though. X3 Also, have to go to the PNE at some point!! :D I love the PNE... ^____^ The show mart, the food (Whales Tails... yummy... *_*), the Prize Home, the animals.... all so much fun! :D ... I really, REALLY miss the long stretch of buildings they USED to have, on the Hastings Street side. :( WHY they torn them down, and put up that park... I really don't know. ;_; NO one uses that park... not really. -__- It's just a ...clump of nothing. Oh, sure... it's pretty enough... and some people wander through it, but... it's not designed well. It's really NOT that "people friendly"... Isn't there a park/grassy field across the street, or something, anyway? Why take that space away from the PNE? The PNE has been there, now, for ninety-five years... *sighs*
It's a big pet peeve of mine, this "green space"... -__- The buildings there... they used to hold the craft fair/showcase... Such WONDERFULLY talented artisians of all types and ages. *__* Then there was the Home Mart -- all those cool, nifty little gadgets and doohickeys for homes and such... And the Challenger Map! A beautiful, large, 3-D, accurate map of all of B.C. It was gorgeous. That stretch of buildings were FUN. You start from the Pacific Collesium entrance... go through the 1st building -- a yearly, rotating display... then go through the Show Mart -- tons of ALL sorts of stuff to look at, buy... Then there's the Food Fair. Then another yearly rotating exhibition/display. Then, to the Hastings Street Buildings. Which aren't there anymore. ;__;
I know change is inevitable. I know change can be good. But some things don't need to be changed. 'If it's not broke, don't fix it'. Those buildings didn't need to be taken down. I miss them.
BUT! There's still a lot of stuff I love about the PNE, as described above. ^_^;; I always enjoy going to the PNE, so mom and I really need to set a time and date for when we both can make it there. X3
And I TOTALLY went off on a tangent, here... in talking about the PNE... :/ Ah well. ^.^ That's the way journals go sometimes. Heh. X3
