R.I.P. Nodar Kumaritashvili

This is such a sad, tragic thing to happen... D:

It is a terrible tragedy. I can't believe the news posts that picture of him going over the wall because he died as a result of that crash.

Apparently, there had been a dozen near misses and some other crashes too on the Whistler track. They say that track makes the athletes go too fast.

I know... D: I mean, the first time, maybe, (as it was happening?) I can see... because they didn't know the extent of his injuries, and it happened so fast...? But after that? I can't watch it. I twich and look away when they showed it on the news after the Opening Ceremonies. Other news reports have shown similar things... :(

Regardless, it is a terrible tragedy. I'm glad that they've closed the track down, and are working on improving the wall/safety of it. People have always pushed themselves to go faster, more extreme... push themselves to the limit... then find new limits. Greatness can come of that. It's just sad when THIS all happens. :(
