Back from Anime North!

uftakiMuch fun was had! :D My flight was okay, arrived safe and sound... (ZOMG... HOT and humid/muggy there!! @_x; Gimme Vancouver's nice, cool, fresh air, please... nice to be home. XD *lol*) Got to the hotel, met Middletails... got checked in and got my con badge... then the fun began. X3
General notes: lots of love to seeing everyone there again this year. :D It was great seeing everyone. :D Much love to 'em all. ^__^ We had a blast, chatting, hanging out... Had MUCH fun at the various panels and showings (("MUFFINS" ... "Fish Fight!" no... I don't expect many to understand those comments at ALL XD X3 *snickers*)) Didn't take many pictures, but I do have at least 1 roll that I'll need to get developed (you know me; no idea if/when these'll ever be put up on the 'net ^.^;;)
Spent an absolute BOMB in the dealers room, and got some cute stuff from the Nominoichi (Sakura Con and Anime Evolution needs to hold one of these!!) and the Artists' Alley. However, saying that... I was a bit disappointed in the dealers room. :/ Sure, there were some variances; some figurines, some posters/wall scrolls... some playing card games... but it was mostly ALL either manga, or DVDs. All North American releases, too, pretty much. :/ Very very little in the way of Japanese imports. There were a FEW Japanese toys/figurines, but that was something you had to hunt around a little for. c.c All trading cards were all the American TCGs. There were almost no CDs, only one doujinshi seller... I dunno. Maybe I'm not quite remembering Sakura Con's dealer's room clearly, but I'm SURE there was more of a variety in there. At least more Japanese imports.
edit: Okay... I remember there WERE plushies, and more Japanese figurines than I initially remembered. ^^;; Still, a lot of the dealers seemed to repeat each other (most likely unintentional), and nothing I was looking for (even if I DID have the space! *lol* ^.^;)
Ah well. Still bought some cool stuff in there. ^^; Got the Tylor DVD special edition box sets. Picked up a few more Copics. :3 Got two very cute and very pretty Suikoden doujinshi. :D Found one seller that had a TON of old video games. *__* Grabbed Lufia 1 (SNES) and Wild Arms 1. (PSX) :3 I also got Zelda, Link and Adventures in the Magjc Kingdom (all NES). They aren't working, unfortunately. T__T However, the guy told me they DO do returns/trades/etc if things aren't working. I have the recipts, and the contact information, so I'll be getting in touch with them tomorrow. ^.^ Non-anime but still cool purchase was the graphic novel "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" by Don Rosa. *___* My gods, this is a work of love and art! Carl Barks and Don Rosa are the undisputed masters of the Duck stories, and I am VERY happy to have this in my collection. :3
My huge "impulse" buy was from this old 80s toy seller I found in the last day. Pricy, but (hopefully) well worth it. ^^; I picked up a Twin Twist (he doesn't really hop up all that well anymore... ah well. :( ) opened, but still with his original box. I also got a carded Runabout thrown in free (the guy had 4 -- I think he wanted to get rid of them ^^;) -- took him off the card. His stickers got exposed to air through a crack in the plastic so they were useless... but he's still in good shape.) I got him free cuz I bought out all the Action Masters he had. ^^;; 12 mint, carded Action Masters. He gave me a discount on 'em, since I bought this all at once. ^__^
However... for the next five months! or so, I'm reeeeeeeeeally going to have to keep a CLOSE, tight watch on my spending... ^.^;; Hopefully I can sell off some of the stuff I don't want/need any more on Ebay or through my LJ or something... c__c
Next year, I PROMISE you guys I'll be able to join you for the Suikoden photoshoot. @__x; ... heck, I'll even try to play/finish more of the games, so I know what you're all talking about. XD *lol* Maybe I'll even join you in manning the Artists' Alley table. :3 Just have to think up and produce stuff to sell. ^.^; Loved seeing you all again, and can't wait to see you next year! Hopefully, at Sakura Con as well as Anime North! :3 ^__~
