Title/Prompt: 84 - Saved
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Character(s): Hot Spot
Pairing(s): none
Summary: Hot Spot recounts the latest rescue mission

“It didn’t sound like it would be that big of a problem when we first heard it. Decepticons attacking some laboratory in the outskirts of one city, causing havoc, potential humans injured; the normal thing. We naturally were called to be part of the rescue effort, and focus on saving the humans while the other half of the assembled team went after the Cons.

So we get there, the attack group goes off and starts doing their thing… routing the Cons from the laboratory, allowing us room to work. I start of suppressing the fires that had broken out in the various buildings. The source of the fire seemed to be the main lab, so I focussed on getting that out first. The wind wasn’t being all that helpful, blowing some hot ashes and sparks over onto the neighbouring building. The roof of that was on fire, too, threatening to go further, so I knew I had to work quick. Blades’ hovering around, assisting with the evacuations didn’t help suppress the fire any, but that couldn’t be helped. We needed him to air-lift some of the people from the higher floors, and roofs of other nearby buildings. I’d rather deal with Blades’ downdraft, that I can account for, than leave humans up high and in danger.

As noted, Blades was doing air-lifts for humans out of reach. I had Streetwise and Groove entering the buildings, clearing rubble and searching for injured humans. First Aid assisted the human medics that had gathered nearby.

Injuries don’t seem to be all THAT drastic, thankfully. Mostly scrapes and bruises, and a few twisted ankles, and the occasional broken leg, in their mad dash to escape the Decepticons and the fire. Groove and Streetwise found two unconscious humans - most likely smoke inhalation. They were carefully carried to the waiting human medics, and First Aid drove them to the nearest hospital.

Finally got the main lab fire out, and started work on the second building. Had to keep Blades on track; a couple times he wanted to go off and join in the fighting - it WAS a little too close for comfort at spots - and I had to remind him there were still some humans to save, plus I ordered him to keep an optic out for any Decepticons approaching our position, and warn us if any came near.

Had a close call with Ravage sneaking up behind Groove at one point, who was too busy moving a wall that had collapsed over two humans. Blades did manage to spot him though, and managed to drive him off by coming in close to the ground, transforming, and slashing at him. I suppose Ravage thought the effort wasn’t worth the risk, and left us alone after that. I have no idea what he was attempting, aside from just interrupting our rescue efforts.

The fire on the second building was almost out, and Streetwise gave me the all-clear, that all humans had been accounted for and rescued. The fight between the Decepticons and the strike team was still on-going, though it looked like the Cons would be calling a retreat soon. No way of knowing if they’d accomplished their goal or not. I regrouped my team, save for First Aid who was still at the hospital, and was about to give the order to assist the strike team in battle when--”

There was a muffed boom somewhere within the base, and a second later the lights flickered before the power went completely out. Hot Spot sat stunned in his chair at his desk, optics - now the only source of light in his room - blinking in surprise. After a moment’s silence, he threw his head back, letting out a loud wail of despair.

There was a scratching, then a thump at his door, before it opened, revealing the inquisitive head of Streetwise, a flashlight in his hand. “Looks like Wheeljack blew the main fuse again,” he chuckled. “We really need to get our quarters off the same circuit as his lab or something. Anyway! You okay, boss? Sounded like you just lost a bet or somethin’...”

Hot Spot turned to look at him, shoulders slumping, crestfallen. “My report wasn’t saved.”
